Explorations in flower pressing arrangements and mediums. It was an unexpected creative foray leading to really noticing the natural world and thinking of new possible applications.
I just ran the length of the coast at my favorite ferry terminal shoreline during sunset. It was a contemplative time, because I was trying to decide what I wanted to do. What I wanted for myself. I was sitting on the bench at the end of the aptly named sunset avenue during the sunset, and I looked up from my hands. There were these rose bushes just sitting there. They've always been there. But this was the first time I really noticed them. They looked nice.
Then, it came to me. I should try flower pressing. I don't know how that thought entered my mind, don't ask. But I felt it strongly, and decided I needed to follow it. A few purchases later, I started pressing flowers. First from my yard, then from parks and hikes. Even on my travels.
I tried different arrangements and flowers types, it was fun to try and explore different things. It was a new medium, one that I didn't think I'd end up trying. But it was fun.
Another aspect I realized right away. I now noticed plants and flowers, so much more than I had before. Like the rose bushes, they were always there. I just never bothered or had the intention to really see them.
What else have I been not noticing?
